BCP Council (Bournemouth area): Matt is pleased to have recently secured consent for the use of land around The Pavilion in Bournemouth (which is a listed building) for “The Apres Terrace”. The supporting plans were prepared by local firm Footprint Architects. This Alpine themed Christmas bar, complete complete with festive igloo domes, a tent with Shuffleboard, as well as delicious local food offerings and ski gondola seating with festoon lighting now has formal permission to be in place between 15th November and the 4th January on an annual basis to tie in with the Winter Wonderland in Bournemouth Gardens.

Unbelievably, the heritage officer (Scrooge) had concerns that the proposal will have an adverse impact on the setting of the listed building. However, the planning officer thankfully took a balanced view and deemed that the proposal has significant benefits for tourism and as it was clearly only a temporary installation and it will be removed after Christmas he considered that on balance that the proposal was acceptable for a limited period. The approval grants permission for the bar to be in place for the next 5 Christmas’s (until 4th Jan 2028). Why not go down and check it out!

Pure Town Planning would like to wish all our clients, architects and all the other consultants we work with a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
