Dorset Council: Matt Annen, has recently secured consent to vary conditions attached to a previous planning consent (which Pure Town Planning also secured) to enable an increase in the number of weddings per year at Abbots Court in Winterborne Kingston to take it from 30 to 50 weddings per year.

The venue’s USP is becoming one of a ‘destination wedding venue’ where guests enjoy the venue for a wedding event over a period of 2-3 days. As the demand for weddings at the venue have increased this application was required to seek a variation of the previous condition which restricted the number of weddings which can be held at the site each year and increase it from 30 to 50. In arriving at her recommendation to approve, the officer concluded:

“There is not considered to be any additional significant harm to neighbouring residential amenity from the weddings increasing from 30 to 50, it would spread events out more evenly throughout the year, and the restriction on one wedding per weekend would be retained”.

In peak periods this would allow the venue to hold two weddings per week (one mid -week). The previously approved layout, hours of operation, amplified music restrictions, lighting etc will all remain as previously approved to continue to safeguard neighbouring amenity. We are pleased to have secured this consent to allow more couples enjoy this idyllic wedding venue set within the grounds of a beautifully picturesque Country House – Find out more here.
