East Dorset District Council: Pure Town Planning have just secured a great planning consent for a homeowner in Ashley Heath near Ringwood. The approved scheme, designed by Ringwood-based architects Williams Lester, is for an extension which more than doubles the size of the original Arts and Crafts cottage.
The plot is located within one of East Dorset District Council’s Special Character Areas and has many large pine trees covered by a Tree Preservation Order. It has also recently been reduced in size following the building of a new dwelling we originally won on appeal (more details here). Despite all this, by working closely with the planning officers at the pre-application stage, we were able to maximise the development potential of the existing dwelling to create a spacious family dwelling. The application suffered a couple of delays. First we had to wait for the comments of the Council’s tree team which at present are working through a large backlog following staffing issues. Second following a Parish Council objection, the application had to be reported to the Planning Committee. In granting permission the members of the committee praised the quality of the proposal.
