BCP Council (Poole): Neil McKeon is pleased to have secured planning permission for alterations and extensions to a contemporary dwelling in Dalkeith Road, within The Avenue Conservation Area.

The scheme, (designed by DMW Architects), creates ground and first floor extensions, fenestration changes and a new second floor addition with associated balconies. The proposed additions and internal reconfiguration creates a expanded, spacious open plan ground floor layout. At first floor, the existing 4 bed layout has been amended to create 3 spacious bedrooms (including a large master suite with front facing balcony), as well as newly formed office. A single bedroom is proposed within the new second floor.

Given the tree presence on site, as well as the proximity to neighbouring properties to the eastern boundary, thorough consultation was held between PTP and the Case Officer, with the assistance of DMW Architects and Richard Nicholson (Arboricultural Consultant). These on-going discussions ensured that the proposal would not create any harmful upon protected trees, as well as safeguarding the privacy and amenity neighbours. Whilst the existing property is of contemporary design, the proposed extensions and new second floor addition transform both the function and overall visual amenity of the building, whilst respecting the character and appearance of the conservation area.

If you have a property which could avail of a fresh perspective to expand its floor space, please call us or send an email to info@puretownplanning.co.uk. We would be happy to discuss in more detail to see how we can help you with a potential application.
