Portsmouth City Council: Dan Wilden is pleased to have secured permission for alterations and extensions to convert a former bank building at North End into mixed uses retaining a large commercial unit fronting London Road with an 11-bedroom house in multiple occupation on the upper floors and five new flats to the rear.

This former Lloyds Bank building was crying out for a redevelopment scheme ever since the bank branch closed. The site was acquired by our clients and a development proposal was designed by Shore Architecture. The main challenge was working within the constraints of the existing building to meet the Council’s HMO standards and to also ensure sufficient amenity and outlook for the residential properties at the rear. Working together with the planning officer at the Council we were able to put together a proposal which satisfied the planners’ requirements without any loss of units or floorspace.

If you have a vacant building you are seeking to put to new use, why not contact Pure Town Planning for some initial advice as to what might be possible?
