Rosemary road five house approval planning consultants PooleBorough of Poole: Pure Town Planning were celebrating this week winning two appeals for new residential development in the Newtown area of Poole.

The two applications for back-land development which were on nearly adjoining sites had been turned down by the Borough of Poole in the face of strong opposition from neighbours. One application was for five dwellings on rear gardens together with a replacement dwelling on the street front whilst the other was for a pair of semi-detached dwellings on rear gardens. Both proposals were designed by architects Anders Roberts Cheer. On appeal we successfully argued that back-land development formed part of the character of the immediate area and that the proposals had been sensitively designed to respect the surroundings and avoid harmful impact on the neighbouring properties.

The new development would fit into the general pattern of development in the area, which has evolved over the years, and the architectural design would not be out of character with other buildings in the area, which are varied in any case. Evidently the proposals would increase the density of development in the locality but, even so, they would not harm the appearance of the surrounding area nor undermine its character in a way that would be objectionable in planning terms.

The Inspector found much the same on the other appeal and granted planning permission for both schemes much to our client’s delight.

If you have had a recent planning refusal (or two) then why not contact Pure Town Planning today to find out if we would recommend challenging the Council’s decision on appeal.
