BCP Council (Poole area): Pure Town Planning are pleased to have recently won a householder planning appeal against BCP Council for the extension and remodel of a house in Lilliput, Poole with a scheme designed by Marlow Architects.
This appeal decision follows a recent approval by BCP Council for a “fall-back” scheme with a pitched roof (see our post here). Now thanks to a successful appeal, our clients can build their original scheme to create a three storey contemporary building with a flat roof.
In refusing the application, the Council planning officer was particularly concerned the impact the flat roof design and other changes would have on the cul-de-sac of four similar houses in which the appeal propery is situated. The Inspector disagreed finding that: “in a development where modern roof styles already prevail, this contemporary addition, although different to existing, would integrate into this mixed context without visual discordancy occurring” and on the use of different materials; “it would not be an overwhelming feature and, in my view, this detail would add interest rather than appearing incongruent in this varied setting.” The Inspector also accepted our arguments that the proposal would not have an adverse impact on the amenties of the neighbouring dwellings.
If you have had planning permission refused why not speak to one of the planning consultants at Pure Town Planning to see if we think an appeal is worthwhile.
