Winchester Local PLan part 2 planning consultant hampshireWinchester City Council: Winchester City Council has just published a draft of its Local Plan Part 2 – Development Management & Allocations document for consultation.

This forthcoming planning policy document will apply only to the City Council area outside the South Downs National Park. It is an important document however because it sets out most of the land allocations for the district and also detailed development management policies.

New housing allocations are proposed on the edges of Bishops Waltham, Colden Common, Denmead, Kings Worthy, New Alresford, Swanmore, Waltham Chase and Wickham. The plans for new greenfield housing at Winchester and Whiteley are already in place.

The Development Management policies contain the usual things one would expect and largely results in no material change to the present policies. The Council’s obsession with keeping everyone in small houses continues with DM2 restricting the size of 2 bed and 3 bed dwellings and DM3 restricting the size of the extension or replacement of small dwellings in the countryside.

The consultation runs for six weeks until midday on 05 December. Full details including how to respond are available here. As ever if you have any queries as to how the policies will affect you then do get in touch.
