Winchester City Council has submitted its Local Plan Part 1 – Joint Core Strategy to the Secretary of State. The document will be subject to a Public Examination by Planning Inspector anticipated to be in September or October of this year.

Those who have already made representations on the document have the opportunity to make further comments in relation to the latest Schedule of Proposed Modifications – until 30 July. Everyone else will just have to await the outcome now – as a rough timescale we can expect the Inspectors report November-December this year and, if it is found to be sound, adoption early in 2013.

Residential developers or owners of potential sites for residential development  need to be aware that with the proposed removal of any threshold, affordable housing will catch all additional residential dwellings. On smaller sites below the current threshold (15 units or 0.5 ha in Winchester, Bishop’s Waltham, Colden Common, Denmead, Kings Worthy, New Alresford and Whiteley and 5 units or 0.17 ha elsewhere) it would be advisable to secure consents before the new policy kicks in. If you have any questions as to how the new policies might affect your plans, then please call Pure Town Planning.
