Dorset Council: Neil McKeon is delighted confirm that the reserved matters application for demolition of the existing bungalows and erection of 5 dwellings with newly formed access drive has been approved by Dorset Council.
Having successfully presented the outline application at Planning Committee in December 2022, a revised reserved matters application to secure ‘Appearance’, ‘Scale’ and ‘Landscaping’ was recommended for approval by LPA Officers. Following initial objections from the Planning and Conservation Officers, a revised scheme (courtesy of Paul Glanville) was prepared to modify the building scale and front elevation design to ensure an enhanced relationship to the adjacent listed building, as well as an acceptable relationship to neighbouring properties of High Street and Churchill Close.
Whilst the revised scheme for our client, Karm Homes, was supported by Officers, the application was brought before the Eastern Area Planning Committee last week due to a Parish Council objection. For the second time on this scheme, Neil presented the planning case to Members and highlighted how the scheme had evolved in collaboration with Officers, in order to fully address previous concerns. Members heard how the revised scheme delivers a high quality proposal which safeguards neighbouring amenity, whilst also respecting the adjacent heritage asset and providing much needed housing stock in this sought after location.
Following deliberation, Members unanimously voted in favour of the proposal and supported the recommendation of Officers to grant approval, bringing this reserved matters scheme to a successful close, which was welcomed news to the client.
