Portsmouth City Council has formally adopted its Community Infrastructure Levy charging schedule. It will begin charging on any applicable development scheme granted planning permission from 01 April 2012. Effectively any application not already in the system now will now be subject to CIL.

All non-residential developments over 100 sqm and all new residential schemes creating additional units will be charged £105 per sqm except for the following reductions:

Use Classes A1 to A5  – £53 per sqm (except large out of centre units)

Use Classes B1, B2 or B8 – nil

Use Class C1 or C2 – £53 per sqm

Use Class D1 – nil

Don’t forget that for residential schemes you will still need to factor in affordable housing on top of this.
