One of the more tedious bits of planning jargon to have emerged over the last couple of years is the “Heritage Asset”. Basically it means listed buildings, conservation areas and well other stuff which is old or at least fairly old.

But to the Borough of Poole a heritage asset means: “A building, monument, site, place area or landscape positively identified as having a degree of significance meriting consideration in planning decisions.” Yes Poole have positively identified the “heritage asset” as something meriting consideration for a Supplementary Planning Document all of its own.

The draft SPD is published for comments until the 15th August 2012. You can read it here but be warned you will have to endure the term “heritage asset” once or twice. Per paragraph.

If you can’t bear it but have um something old you need some advice on in Poole or elsewhere give us a call.
