Pure Town Planning - The Bournemouth Plan, Bournemouth Core Strategy

The public examination into the Bournemouth Core Strategy is set to go ahead with four days of hearings from 13 and 16 March with the Inspector Geoff Salter BA MRTPI. But many developers will be disappointed that this examination will not include a review of Bournemouth’s Affordable Housing policy. Some of the critical proposals to be aware of in the proposed Core Strategy include a policy preventing the loss of small family houses and the extension of the protection of tourism accommodation policy from the key tourism areas to the whole Borough. If all goes to plan the Council will be looking to adopt just in time for this year’s peak holiday season – so now is the time to be thinking whether these policies will affect your land and if so should you be getting an application in before it’s too late? Contact Pure Town Planning if you think this might apply to you.

Meanwhile East Dorset and Christchurch, who are working on a joint Core Strategy, edge slowly closer towards getting an agreed set of policies together for consultation. At a series of meetings over the next two months the Council’s will finalise the contents of the “Pre-Submission” stage document which is due to be subject to formal public consultation from 02 April 2012 until 25 June 2012. Progress is slow but far from the worst in the area!
