Bournemouth Borough Council: Pure Town Planning were delighted to play our part in obtaining outline planning consent for this major Bournemouth town centre brownfield scheme at the former Royal Mail Post Sorting Office on Albert Road. The architects Anders Roberts took the lead on the application but sought our advice and asked us to produce a comprehensive Design and Access Statement with full planning justification. This we duly produced to our usual excellent high standard of presentation and to a tight time frame. The site is highly sensitive in terms of heritage being within the Conservation Area and surrounded by some of Bournemouth’s most important listed buildings. We had to not only justify how the scheme would fit into this context but had to justify the loss of the existing buildings on the site, convincing Bournemouth Borough Council that the benefits of the scheme would outweigh any historic or architectural interest they have.

The scheme designed by Anders Roberts is an excellent mix of traditional and modern architecture and incorporates ground floor commercial spaces for shops or restaurants with 78 flats on the upper five floors.
