Dorset Council: Matt Annen, has recently secured consent to vary conditions attached to a previous planning consent (which Pure Town Planning also secured) to enable weddings to now take place all year round at Abbots Court in Winterborne Kingston.

The previous consent extended the total number of wedding events from 12 previously to a maximum of 30 events in any calendar year as well as re-position the wedding marquee:

However a condition was applied to that consent which stated: “The marquee shall be erected in the position demarcated on the approved site plan and shall only be in situ between the 1st April and the 31st October, outside these dates the marquee shall be removed from the site other than for storage inside a building. The marquee shall only be used in association with wedding events”.

Since launching Abbot’s Court had received significant demand for weddings outside of these dates (particularly around Christmas time) and operationally it did no make sense to keep taking the marquee down and putting it up again. As the marquee would be there all year round it also presented the opportunity to have a more ‘substantial’ structure with fixed glass panels (rather than more of a “tent” like structure) which has better heat retention and also acoustic properties and ultimately would be more economically viable.

This latest addition truly makes this the idyllic wedding venue in our view, set within the grounds of a beautifully picturesque Country House – Find out more here.
