The house lies in one of East Dorset District‘s “Special Character Areas” which can make large extensions difficult – it was also affected by a Tree Preservation Order. Our client’s initial design was rejected by the Council’s planning officer as being too large and closing the gap to the adjacent dwelling. Our clients decided to negotiate rather than taking their chances seeking political support at committee or on appeal. After a protracted period of negotiation with the planning officer, the team leader and then the Council’s tree officer we eventually got to the point where everyone was happy and planning consent was granted.
Negotiating the planning system can be a frustrating process for home-owners – if you are looking for some help to make the process easier then why not contact Pure Town Planning.
