Wokingham Borough Council: Adding to the growing list of planning approvals obtained further afield, Pure Town Planning have recently secured planning permission for remodel and substantial single and two storey extensions to a family dwelling in the town of Earley, Reading. The proposal converted the ageing detached home into a more modern 4-bedroom family house whilst retaining an overall design which ensured its continued positive contribution within this attractive sylvan setting.
The bespoke design was prepared by architects Tony Holt Design who tailored the scale, layout and appearance of the scheme to fit with the context of the site, whilst achieving the high level of floor space set out in the client’s brief. The approved design represents a clear departure from the existing building and acts to significantly transform the space through single and two storey extensions throughout. The ground floor has been extended providing an expansive open plan living space that opens out onto the extensive rear garden, which was a key requirement for the applicant. The proposal accommodates additional office space, play room and first floor games room aswell as 4 first floor bedrooms each with respective ensuites.
Despite some neighbouring objections and concerns from the Council’s Ecologist, as a result of constant contact with the Planning Officer at Wokingham Borough Council throughout the lengthy application process, we were able to satisfactorily convince all parties that the proposal was not only acceptable, but a vast improvement on the existing arrangement, whilst also respecting the neighbouring dwellings and the surrounding properties on both Wokingham Road and The Crescent. As such, the applicant finally secured the extensive house remodel they desperately desired and the Council were fully satisfied that the high calibre design safeguarded against any potential harmful impacts to its adjacent dwellings.
