Borough of Poole: Pure Town Planning are delighted to confirm yet another successful approval for a contemporary residential development in Lower Parkstone, Poole. The approved scheme involves the demolition of the existing dwelling on site and the erection of three contemporary townhouses on Alton Road.

The proposed development would radically transform this site and create a striking townhouse development of 3 x 4 bedroom units with integral parking in place of the ageing traditional dwelling on site. Alton Road itself has seen an extensive spate of redevelopment to more intensive flatted and townhouse schemes over the past 15 years, which has significantly changed the visual landscape in this attractive tree-lined area of Lower Parkstone.

As such, this specific site was seen to be an ideal opportunity to provide three high quality modern townhouses. The final design is set over four floors and incorporates the use of attractive materials and fenestration as well as substantial glazed areas, taking advantage of the panoramic south westerly views afforded from its elevated setting on Alton Road. Due to the increased bulk and mass of the proposal, great care and attention to detail has been exercised by DOT Architecture in order to assimilate the proposal into the ever changing context of Alton Road.

Pure Town Planning worked tirelessly in liaising with both the Planning and Highways Officers at Borough of Poole in order to overcome their concerns in relation to the safe and secure access from the site via Alton Road and also how the overall scheme would comprehensively assimilate into the Alton Road street scene.

Subsequently, following rigorous negotiation with the respective officers, it was finally agreed that all issues and concerns had been satisfactorily dealt with and the LPA could fully support the proposal, which will effectively increase the housing stock in this sought after area without negatively impacting the amenity of neighbouring properties or creating any detrimental impact to the character or appearance of Alton Road. It is considered that the approved contemporary scheme breathes new life into this under-used site and is a welcome addition to the visual amenity and vibrancy of Alton Road.
