Purbeck District Council: Pure Town Planning are delighted to announce that we have secured outline planning permission for the erection of three dwellings on a backland site at Blandford Road, Upton.

Working in collaboration with local architects Empery + Co, we prepared, submitted and managed a planning application for the proposed development, which delivers a terraced of three units with associated access and parking. As part of the application, we prepared a comprehensive supporting design, access and planning statement which set out the merits of the proposal in a clear and concise manner. The statement made clear that housing developments must be considered in the context of the presumption in favour of sustainable development and that Government guidance advises that it is imperative that Councils do not ignore new opportunities which come forward in sustainable locations and are consistent with other policy provisions.

After many months of negotiation, upon considering of the application and supporting documentation, the Case Officer and all statutory consultees agreed with our conclusions and moved to recommend planning permission be granted for the development. The client was delighted with the decision and is now preparing for the submission of the reserved matters application.

Our eagle-eyed followers may recall back in late 2016 we also achieved planning permission for three new dwellings on a nearby site at Ropers Lane. Following the approval, permission was granted by Purbeck District Council in April 2017 for a revised 4-unit scheme at the site, so in total we’ve now secured permission for 7 units in the Upton area. This will make a significant contribution to Upton’s housing supply and provide much needed high quality family housing in a sustainable location.
