Southampton City Council: Dan Wilden is pleased to have secured planning permission to built three new family homes on Waterloo Road in Southampton with a scheme designed by UX Architects.
The site comprised an unusual vacant plot alongside a former vehicle repair workshop with residential flat above. We decided to do this one “by the book” starting with a pre-application query followed by a full application. Whilst this route can take longer, sometimes it can make a difference with planning officers more inclined to work with you to iron out any potential problems in the course of the application.
In the event the proposal was very well received by the planners and politicians alike – this seemed to be because they so rarely see applications for houses rather than flats in this area. With a few design tweaks the proposal was deemed acceptable and planning permission approved. We look forward to seeing works progress on this one in the near future.
