Weymouth and Portland Borough Council: Pure Town Planning are delighted to announce that we have secured outline planning permission for the erection of ten dwellings on a large backland site at Knightsdale Road, Weymouth, Dorset.
Working in collaboration with Harlequin Homes and Anders Roberts Cheer, we prepared, submitted and managed a major application for the proposed development, which delivers 6 x terraced units and 4 x semi-detached units with associated access and parking.
As part of the application, we prepared a comprehensive supporting design, access and planning statement which set out the merits of the proposal in a clear and concise manner. The statement made clear that housing developments must be considered in the context of the presumption in favour of sustainable development and that Government guidance advises that it is imperative that Councils do not ignore new opportunities which come forward in sustainable locations and are consistent with other policy provisions.
After many months of negotiation, upon considering of the application and supporting documentation, the Case Officer and all statutory consultees agreed with our conclusions and moved to recommend planning permission be granted for the development. Due to local objection from neighbouring residents the application was referred to the Council’s Planning and Traffic Committee. As part of our comprehensive service Chris attended the meeting and presented a professional deputation to the Members outlining the benefits of the application. Following debate, Members swiftly approved the plans and granted planning permission for the scheme. The client was delighted with the decision and is now preparing for the submission of the reserved matters application.
Our eagle eyed followers may recall back in April we also achieved planning permission for six dwellings on an adjacent site at Knightsdale Road, so in total we’ve now secured extant permission for 16 units at Knightsdale Road. This will make a significant contribution to the Borough’s housing supply and provide much needed high quality family housing near Weymouth Harbour.
