East Devon District Council: Neil McKeon of Pure Town Planning has secured planning permission for 10 semi-detached and terraced dwellings in Axminster, East Devon.

The application site is located in Axminster town centre, on land adjacent to a public car park and loading bay to the nearby supermarket. The approval for 10 three storey townhouses follows a previously refused scheme dating back to 2017. The applicant then approached Pure Town Planning to take the reins on a revised application to address the failings of the previous proposal.

On-going negotiations were held with Officers in respect of the related highway impact upon the neighbouring supermarket loading bay, which resulted in the Highway Authority withdrawing their original objection in regard to harm to highway safety.

The scheme delivers 10 new family dwellings in a highly sustainable location on an under-utilised site. Although recommended for approval by Officers, the application was brought before East Devon District Council Planning Committee. Neil presented the application before members and the committee subsequently granted the planning permission – which was welcomed news to the applicant.
