BCP Council (Bournemouth area): Neil McKeon is delighted to confirm planning permission for a Section 73 application to amend the previously approved pair of four-storey 45 unit flatted blocks on Studland Road which Pure Town Planning secured in 2021.

This has been an extensive and protracted process with BCP Officers to secure permission to change the external appearance of the two residential buildings from a more traditional style with gabled roof forms and turrets to a more streamlined contemporary design (courtesy of ARC Architecture) for our client, Amirez Developments.

The Planning Officer noted “the changes to the appearance of the overall architectural style of the proposed development, and in particular the principal façade, are a welcome refresh, offering a contemporary solution for this site.” Given the established mix of architectural styles throughout Studland Road, the amended scheme was judged to be in keeping with the eclectic and contrasting styles already present – as well as more recently approved art-deco style development.

Officers assessed the amended plans in respect to neighbouring and future amenity, tree impact, slope stability and parking/access – raising no objection and subsequently granting planning approval.

The approval sees a marked change to the external façade and material finish to the two approved residential buildings – delivering a high quality development which will make an enhanced contribution to the architectural presence on Studland Road for the future.
