The approved proposal involves severing the existing plot to create a new, independent building plot, on which a well-designed detached three-bedroom home will be built, complete with its own access, parking and associated works. The existing 1960s dwelling will keep its own private garden and parking, while the new home will sit comfortably alongside it — respecting the established building line and the character of this popular residential street.
Officers concluded that the proposal complies with the Purbeck Local Plan and the Wareham Neighbourhood Plan, delivering a well-designed new home that contributes to local housing supply — integrating successfully into the locality while fully protecting the area’s precious heathland and harbour habitats.
It’s a fantastic example of how thorough technical evidence, sound design and a proactive approach to environmental constraints can unlock sustainable development, even on the most sensitive of sites.
