Dorset Council (Weymouth & West Dorset): Darryl Howells has offered his professional support to his client and secured planning permission and Listed Building consent for various alterations to a Grade II listed building in Victoria Square, Portland. The works included removal of all the roof slates and replacement with new slate tiles, window refurbishment, removal of a lighthouse mural, removal of a single storey store from the north-west elevation, reinstatement of an original window opening on the north-west elevation, repair rendered exterior and reinstatement of the front door.

The client had previously secured permissions to convert the building into a convenience store, however during the course of the development works on site deviated from the approved plans and needed retrospective consent. Working with the client and the Council’s conservation officer, Darryl was able to steer the project back on course, and then subsequently received the permissions as issued, under the officer’s delegated powers.

If you are undertaking a development and wish to deviate from the plans or have met with resistance from officers then please contact one of our planning consultants to discuss ways to address any issue that may have arisen, and the approach to take with Local Planning Authority to resolving any amendments.
