Test Valley District Council: Jess Glover is pleased to announce that she has recently secured planning permission for the erection of a glass entrance atrium and associated works to an industrial unit in Portway Business Park, Andover. The plans were prepared by OC Projects Ltd.

The unit serves an industrial warehouse with ancillary office (B8 Use Class) and the client approached Pure Town Planning as they sought to create an attractive glass entrance atrium and also a mezzanine to increase the floor area providing the ancillary office/staff area to the industrial unit. We advised that the creation of a mezzanine being an internal work would not require permission, however the creation of an external two storey glass structure attached to the front of the building to create a main entrance would require planning permission. The glass atrium would serve not only to act as a main entrance to the unit, but also to improve the amount of natural light to the ancillary office and staff areas.

As part of the application process we submitted a comprehensive supporting Design, Access and Planning Statement providing design justification for the scheme demonstrating that the proposal would not be harmful to the character and appearance of the area or neighbouring amenity.

The officer had no issues with the proposal and recommended the scheme for approval.

If you have an existing industrial or commercial unit and would like advice on carrying out works to improve the building then why not call the experts at Pure Town Planning on 01202 585524 or email info@puretownplanning.co.uk to find out how we can help you.
