Dorset Council: Pure Town Planning are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for a detached dwelling within the garden of a Grade ll Listed building known as The Shooting Box for our clients Harlequin Homes. The scheme was designed by local architects Anders Roberts Cheer.

The site is located within the settlement boundary of Lytchett Matravers. Local policy states new development should be concentrated within the district’s most sustainable settlements. Lytchett Matravers is classed as a Key Service Village where new sustainable development is supported in principle.

During the progress of the application, the officer considered that this proposal for one larger house located centrally within the plot was deemed to not to have as an intensive and cramped appearance within the generously sized historic plot and its woodland setting than previous schemes had been. As such it was considered that the proposal would preserve the historic setting of the heritage asset.

Whilst several trees were being removed it was noted that the proposal included new tree planting as mitigation and as such would retain the key attributes associated with the woodland setting.
