North Somerset Council: Matt Annen, a director of the firm is pleased to share the news that he has recently secured planning permission for demolition of a car/motorhome garage and salesroom, plot severance and erection of a new A1 retail convenience store (Co-Op) with associated access, delivery bay and car parking in the local centre of Winscombe, a largely residential village situated in North Somerset, located eight miles west of Weston-super-Mare.

As part of the application, we prepared a comprehensive supporting design, access and planning statement which set out the merits of the proposal in a clear and concise manner, whilst making it clear that the proposals were in accordance with adopted planning policies that maintain the retail hierarchy by supporting centres to provide for the needs of their community.

Following a brief correspondence on the delivery arrangements the appointed officer upon considering the merits of the application and supporting documents agreed with our conclusions and recommended the scheme for approval. The grant of planning permission was received much to our client’s delight: “Thanks Matt -full steam ahead to get this store launched this year now!”

The convenience store will be occupied by the Co-operative and the new store will have an emphasis on fresh food and it will stock a wide range of fruit and veg, award winning fresh food and British meat and poultry. The development will create additional permanent jobs which will provide a significant boost to the local economy.
