BCP Council (Bournemouth):  Darryl Howells, a director of the firm has secured full planning permission for the demolition of the existing buildings and erection of a 2-3 storey building comprising 4 flats and 3 offices with associated access and parking at a site in Norwich Road, Bournemouth.

The scheme was drawn by David James Architects however the client instructed Darryl to handle the planning application due to the complex planning arguments and justification needed as the site is occupied by a active business within older buildings, positioned within a conservation area.

Darryl’s justification for the scheme explained that the business would likely continue in the new development, but making an efficient use of the space could offer more employment opportunities and housing in a town centre location.  The design of the scheme was carefully considered by the planning officer, but with the evidence contained within Darryl’s supporting statement and the plans submitted, the scale and height of the building was accepted by the conservation and planning officers, with little disagreement.
