BCP Council (Poole): Neil McKeon is pleased to have secured planning permission for a two-storey gatehouse annex building fronting Panorama Road in Sandbanks.

The approval sees the demolition of the existing garage building and a replacement two-storey built form accommodating kitchen/living room areas and bedroom space, whilst remaining ancillary to the parent dwelling. The annex is finished with white render and stone cladding with full height glazing which reflects that of the main house to the rear of the plot – ensuring a consistency of architectural design throughout the site.

The approval follows a previously refused scheme in 2017. Pure Town Planning then took the reins on the revised proposal, in conjunction with David James Architects, who designed an alternative annex building which addressed the LPA’s concerns from the original application.

As the site and front garden is heavily treelined with a number of protected trees, Treecall Consulting Ltd assisted to ensure the building respected the existing tree constraints and safeguarded against any excessive impact to planting on site and the contribution it makes in the Panorama Road street scene.
