Bournemouth Borough Council: Pure Town Planning have secured planning permission within the Meyrick Park and Talbot Woods Conservation Area for the erection of four houses in Bournemouth.
The consent includes the demolition of the existing property and the substantial redevelopment of the site to four dwellings set over four floors with underground parking. This follows a previous consent on site which expired earlier this year.
Given its sensitive location, the key issues focused on the impact upon the character and appearance of the conservation area, as well as neighbouring properties. This specific context of the area exhibits a contrasting character to the wider locality. The increased footprint and scale being considered reflective of the character of the area, with a more traditional architectural design (successfully achieved by architects Anders Roberts Cheer) which delivers a high quality and striking residential development whilst remaining a sensitive addition to the conservation area. This particular issue in respect of its overall design and visual contribution, being of key importance to safeguard the character of the Meyrick Park and Talbot Woods Conservation Area. Following the consultation process the four unit scheme was subsequently approved by Bournemouth Borough Council.
