BCP Council (Bournemouth area): Neil McKeon is pleased to confirm planning consent has been secured for an extended and converted building on Cumnor Road in Bournemouth town centre. The proposal sees alterations, side extension and new second floor addition to the existing property. The conversion alters the property from a pair of spacious flats to a 9 flat configuration with additional cycle storage and off street parking.
The second floor design was a particular point of contention with the LPA and so revised plans showing updated fenestration and roof line to secure the proposed mansard addition. The further side extensions ensures an improved internal room layout to maximise the site’s potential. The application also proposed improvements to the basement unit with enhanced light levels and outlook. Following this consultation with Officers, the LPA confirmed that the original character and appearance of the building would be preserved and the resulting living conditions to future occupants would be acceptable and policy compliant. The approval will breathe new life into this property and creates additional residential units in this town centre location.
