Dorset Council (Purbeck area): Matt Annen has secured planning and listed building consent for alterations and change of use from an office (Use Class E) to a tanning salon (Sui Generis Use) In Wareham. The application site is occupied by a Grade II Listed Building occupying a prominent position
in the Wareham Conservation Area.

The scheme saw a relatively straightforward proposed change of use of the commercial unit to a tanning salon with no external changes needed and internally the only changes involved the ground floor area being divided up into three studwork rooms which will house a UV sunbed in each room and the formation of a reception/waiting area at the front of the premises. Given the relatively minor changes proposed the conservation officer deemed that the scheme will not result in harm to the significance of the identified designated heritage assets. Likewise the planning officer considered that the proposed use would complement surrounding uses without detracting from the retail offer along the high street and as such put forward his favourable recommendation which was determined under delegated in line with the target date.
