Chichester District Council: Pure Town Planning are pleased to announce that we recently have secured planning permission for alterations and extensions to an existing care home to facilitate the conversion into seven self-contained flats.

As part of the application process, a pre-application enquiry with the Council was undertaken. The pre-application enquiry established that the principal of residential on this site was acceptable and that a formal planning application would have merit.

The formal planning application was submitted with an extensive Design, Access and Planning Statement setting out the public benefits of the scheme and how the scheme complied with the relevant local planning policy. In regard to the loss of the care home, it was noted that with no local planning policy seeking the retention of care homes and that the care home had been closed due to serious concerns about the resident’s wellbeing.

During the course of the application, the Case Officer requested alterations to the application, which would have made the scheme unviable. Pure Town Planning organised a meeting with the Case Officer to discuss the concerns and provide further justification on the acceptability of the scheme.

The meeting established that the concerns of the Case Officer could be overcome with minor alterations and ensure that the scheme would be viable to build. This allowed the application to be approved by the Case Officer following the meeting, much to the delight of the applicant.    If you are working on a residential development and are looking for a firm who will work tirelessly to steer your development through the planning process and secure that all-important planning permission, then why not give us a call on 01202 585524 or send us an email to info@puretownplanning.co.uk for a FREE 30 minute consultation.
