BCP Council (Poole): Matt Annen is pleased to have recently secured planning permission for the demolition of an existing tired house and erection of a highly contemporary 8000 sqft dwelling overlooking Poole Harbour in Evening Hill, Poole designed by Marlow Architects. for a mutual client.
The journey to get to this point has been very frustrating. Our initial application was unfortunately refused after the Council declined to give us a short extension of time last year to resolve a minor issue with not being in the correct bat survey window May-September to do a phase 2 bat survey. It was particularly frustrating as the building already had consent for a substantial remodel.
Ironically, during this revised application, the tables were turned when the planning officer assigned to our case left the authority and it was reallocated to a new planning officer who requested an extension of time from us. Whilst everything in Matt’s body urged him not give them the extension of time, as the Council had unnecessarily delayed the whole process by over a year previously by not affording him the same level of co-operation, begrudgingly, he gave it because ultimately, we just wanted to keep the process moving forward and secure the consent for the client. But the Council need to learn that it’s a two way street!
Despite the frustrations of this particular process, we’re over the moon to have been involved with securing consent for such a progressive design which is bold, modern, and architecturally exciting.
If you are thinking of embarking on a building project to realise your dream home whether that be via a remodel or full replacement, we’d be happy to assist you navigate what can often be an infuriating planning process!
