Southampton City Council: Dan Wilden is pleased to have secured planning permission for a change of use from a Use Class C4 HMO to a large 8-bedroom Sui Generis HMO.

The property close to The Avenue just north of the city centre, has been used as a small HMO for many years despite being a very large house with plenty of space for more residents without any need to extend. But to use a Use Class C4 HMO for more than 6 residents requires planning permission even if no external alterations are proposed.

The application drew a number of local objections and as a result the proposal needed to go to planning committee. The planning committee agreed with the planning officer’s recommendation to approve the scheme.

If you have a HMO which has space for more people or you are considering extending why not speak to Pure Town Planning to find out if we think there is potential to obtain planning permission.
