Blandford Forum certificate of lawful use planning consultants dorsetNorth Dorset District Council: Pure Town Planning are pleased to have assisted a family obtaining a certificate of lawful development to confirm the lawfulness of a long established dwelling in the countryside near Blandford Forum in Dorset.

Last year Pure Town Planning was approached to assist a family regarding a bungalow they own in the countryside near Blandford Forum. The family had asked an estate agent to value the property with a view to selling or transferring the property which had been in the family since the 1970s. The agent suggested that in light of the planning history of the site they obtain a certificate of lawful use from North Dorset District Council to confirm the lawfulness of the dwelling. They duly made the application and following a catalogue of problems the family were shocked to have the application refused.

Realising that the future of the use as a dwelling was now at risk, the family then turned to Pure Town Planning for advice on how best to proceed and whether to appeal the decision. We advised that a new application carefully presented and with strengthened evidence was the best way forward and sure enough with our input the new application was approved just before Christmas.

If you have a tricky planning situation involving the lawfulness or otherwise of development then why not contact Pure Town Planning in the strictest confidence for our opinion?
