West Dorset District Council: Darryl Howells has secured full planning permission to carry out external alterations to the office building together with the relocation of bicycle and refuse stores and the erection of new gates. The client used LMA architects to draw the scheme, but instructed Darryl to justify the proposed development in policy terms, submit the planning application and handle any negotiations.

Darryl had already secured a Prior Approval for the permitted development conversion of the office building to residential previously (see here). However permitted development conversions of offices to residential do not allow for any external alterations to the building – full planning permission must be obtained for these where necessary. This planning application sought to authorise the external changes to create full height windows, Juliet balconies, a gated entrance with surrounding fencing and new refuse and bicycle stores. Darryl wrote a comprehensive Planning Statement which was accepted and the scheme was supported by the planning officer and the approval was secured quickly.

If you have an office building and are looking to maximise its potential or have such a building that would benefit from eternal alterations to improve its appearance and desirability, then please contact Pure Town Planning for a professional, independent and comprehensive appraisal of the likelihood.
