BCP Council (Poole): Matt Annen is pleased to have recently secured planning permission to increase the quality and level of accommodation to an existing bungalow property in Canford Cliffs. The consent transforms the existing traditional bungalow into a large 5 bedroom contemporary dwelling with a flat roof.  Internally the property will be totally renovated and modernised with good sized bedrooms, a large open plan dining/living area, separate kitchen, study, cinema and gym/garaging.  The scheme, which was designed by Ben Hollington of Hollington Agency Ltd met the brief set by our mutual client whilst ensuring acceptable arrangements to neighbours were maintained. This meant that the scheme was approved as originally submitted (no changes required) and 4 days ahead of the target date which is almost unheard of in the current Covid Climate. The planning officer concluded in her report:

Taking into account that the house is set back form the road and screened with mature trees growing on the front boundary, it would not appear unduly prominent in the street scene characterised by mixed pattern of development. The house would be finished with stone, render and cladding. Therefore given the siting, height, mass, scale and design of the proposed extended and remodelled house, it would preserve the character and appearance of the street scene and larger area.

We are finding that in the current time, many expanding families are choosing not to relocate and find a new larger house but are instead adopting the “don’t move…  improve” approach. If you are thinking of a similar project for your bungalow/house then please do give Pure Town Planning a call 01202 585524 to find out how we can help you create your dream home without moving house!
