Planning permission for extension Corfe Mullen planning consultants DorsetEast Dorset District Council: Pure Town Planning are pleased to announce another approval, this time for a single storey rear extension and linking of the detached garage and conversion  into a utility room off the extended kitchen at a house in Corfe Mullen in Dorset.

This extension was slightly over four metres, which if it was not for the connection to the garage, could have been applied for by the prior notification scheme as a “larger rear extension” under the current permitted development rules (now extended until 2019). This scheme allows dwellings to double their permitted development rights for rear extensions. For a detached dwelling permitted development would allows a rear extension up to four metres without the need to notify the Council and up to eight metres under prior approval. For a terrace or semi-detached dwelling it would be three and six metres respectively.

In this case however the garage takes it beyond the 8m threshold so full planning permission was required from East Dorset District Council.

The rear extension allows two of the three bedrooms and the kitchen to all be significantly lengthened, remarkably improving the size and functionality of the house. The conversion of the garage into a utility room means the kitchen now has the space to have a dining table and a kitchen island.

Therefore, if you are thinking of extending, reusing outbuildings or other works to your home why not give us a call to see what you can do and how we can help!
