Test Valley Borough Council: Dan Wilden of Pure Town Planning is pleased to have obtained planning permission for the insertion of bi-fold doors into the rear of a domestic outbuilding in Broughton, Hampshire.

Typically such a minor alteration would be permitted development – and if we were proposing bifold doors in the rear of the house it would be. However as this existing outbuilding is taller than 4 metres there are effectively no permitted development rights to alter it.

The building lies within the Broughton Conservation Area and is probably Victorian in original – nonetheless the planning officer accepted that the proposal would not harm the Conservation Area.

If you have a proposal which you think might be permitted development but are not sure, why not speak with one of our planning consultants for advice?
