Purbeck District Council: Pure Town Planning are celebrating a successful approval for the demolition of an existing bungalow and erection of a three storey block of 8 residential units at St Vasts Road, Swanage.

Given the site’s location within the Swanage Conservation Area and the established pattern and scale of development in the immediate locality, extensive consultation was undertaken with the respective Planning, Urban Design and Conservation Officers to deliver a sensitively designed, high quality development which reflects and enhances the features and characteristics of the conservation area.

The proposal introduces a higher density development on this prominent corner site, with newly proposed access drive to a lower level parking facility. Following thorough collaboration between Pure Town Planning, architects Anders Roberts Cheer and the Council, an agreed scheme was reached. The resulting proposal has been specifically tailored with suitable fenestration details, changing site levels, separation gaps and additional planting/screening to safeguard the amenity of neighbouring properties and make a positive contribution to the St Vasts Road and Cluny Crescent street scenes.

Due to the number of proposed units, the application was brought before the Purbeck District Council Planning Committee with a recommendation to approve. Following a deputation by Pure Town Planning, Members discussed the scheme at length and subsequently voted in favour of the proposal.
