BCP Council (Bournemouth): Neil McKeon has recently secured outline planning permission to demolish the existing office building and erect a 17-unit apartment building in Lorne Park Road in Bournemouth town centre – with plans prepared by James Munday Ltd.

The approval follows a series of applications and appeals which Pure Town Planning have managed dating back to 2015 – the most recent of which being planning permission for a 37-unit student block in 2020. The main stumbling block to residential units in the past was the inability to meet the adopted parking standards. However, since the student building approval, the BCP Parking SPD has come into effect. Under the SPD, Lorne Park Road has been designated as ‘Zone A’ which, given its sustainable town centre location, no longer requires on site parking for residential apartments.

Neil worked closely with both the architect and the Planning Officer throughout the process to ensure that the resulting design safeguarded the privacy and amenity of neighbouring properties, as well as delivering a high quality residential development, breathing new life into this sustainable town centre site which is in dire need of revitalisation – much to the delight of the applicant.

If you have a town centre site which may have development potential, or a residential application which the LPA has objected to on parking grounds in the past, then please contact Pure Town Planning on 01202 585524 or email info@puretownplanning.co.uk for a free and confidential planning appraisal.
