Bournemouth Borough Council: Matt Annen is pleased to confirm that planning permission has at long last been granted for the conversion and extension of an existing office building to a 18-bed student scheme in Bournemouth.

The approval follows a previously refused application (currently at appeal) which sought to redevelop the site in a very similar manner. In the previous instance, Bournemouth Borough Council was opposed to the lack of on site parking and poor design stemming from a poor outlook from one of the units.

Following this decision we met with our client and Elcock Associates who prepared the plans and re-jigged the layout – from 11 x 2-bed units to 1 x 2-bed, 1 x 4 -bed and 2 x 6-bed units (18-bed total)) in order to address the concerns raised by the Council by presenting a layout more akin to a managed student accommodation block. This long-awaited planning permission will breathe new life into this site to the rear of Old Christchurch Road, serving the growing student population in the heart of the town centre.

As evident in this case, here at Pure Town Planning we work tirelessly and exhaust every avenue to deliver planning permissions for our clients. If you have had a refusal and are looking for a firm who can perhaps take a fresh approach to redevelopment in order to steer your scheme through to a successful conclusion, them why not give us a call or email  info@puretownplanning.co.uk.
