Ashley Road Police Station approved planning consultant PooleBorough of Poole: Pure Town Planning are celebrating another successful planning permission for extensions to the former Parkstone Police Station on Ashley Road in Parkstone, Poole. The proposals involve creating 6 additional flats and 1 detached dwelling on the site.

The original building has gone through a number of planning applications involving change of use to both residential and offices dating back to 1993. However, the most recently submitted proposal to create a two storey extension for a retail unit was refused by the LPA and the decision upheld by the Planning Inspectorate in 2012.

The current proposal includes both 2 and 3 storey extensions to the existing building, creating 6 additional flats as well as a detached 2 storey dwelling to the rear of the site. Due to the site’s location on a key public transport route and proximity to one of the largest local centres in Poole, this mix of smaller residential units was considered ideal and complements the mix of development in the surrounding area.

Following extensive consultation between Pure Town Planning, David James Architects and the respective Borough of Poole Officers, the Council were swayed in favour of the proposal and recognised the clear merits of the scheme and how it would sensitively deliver seven additional residential units in this highly sustainable location.
