Borough of Poole: Pure Town Planning are celebrating another successful planning permission for a 13-apartment residential block on Martello Road South in the Canford Cliffs area of Poole. The proposal sees the erection of a four-storey building on this spacious plot which is heavily screened from the road by extensive trees and landscaping.

This consent follows a previously approved 9-unit scheme – also secured by Pure Town Planning in March 2017. Given the more intensive development surrounding the site, as well as previously approved schemes which are currently under construction directly opposite, the principle of further flatted development in Martello Road South was deemed acceptable by the Borough of Poole. Due to the context of the site and scale of neighbouring properties, a key design issue was to safeguard the privacy and amenity of both the existing and proposed occupants, whilst also preventing against any harmful impact in terms of the character and appearance of Martello Road South.

With this in mind, from the outset of the application, extensive consultations between Pure Town Planning, architects Anders Roberts Cheer and the respective Planning Officers have played a critical role in ensuring that the resulting four-storey building was designed sensitively to avoid any potential harm to neighbouring propertiea whilst also allowing a suitable relationship to the existing trees on site, which ensures their positive contribution will continue unharmed. The resultant proposal will deliver 13 high quality units in a contemporary building this much sought after location.
