Burnage approved planning consultants pooleBorough of Poole: Pure Town Planning are delighted to announce that we have recently secured a very valuable planning permission for 13 apartments in a prestigious area of Canford Cliffs, near Sandbanks in Poole. The development proposes the demolition of the existing flatted building (containing 4 flats) and its replacement with a contemporary 5-storey building containing 13 apartments with a mixture of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom units, ranging in size from 1000 sq.ft up to 2868 sq.ft for the penthouse.

Pure Town Planning were involved from the outset liaising with the architects Anders Roberts Cheer, who designed this beautiful bespoke apartment buildings, to work up the scheme ready for submission. The proposed apartments themselves are generously designed in terms of space ranging between 2-4 bedrooms and the majority of the flats have either a terrace or small balcony taking advantage of the spectacular views over the bay and towards Old Harry Rocks. Externally Anders Roberts Cheer did a cracking job with the design of the buildings; with a cutting edge angular, flat roofed, sleek, contemporary building with large areas of fenestration and finished in sharp white render and timber and zinc cladding.

During the process we attended a numerous meetings with our client, the planners, the tree officer and countless emails and phone calls backwards and forwards to the design team and different departments of  the Council… which resulted in a number of changes to the originally submitted scheme, but it was all worth it as we had a scheme which had a recommendation to approve by the planning officer. But that wasn’t the end! A last minute call-in request by a Ward Councillor meant that the application had to be determined at Planning Committee. So despite all our hard work to convince the planning officer, his team leader, the tree officer, the highways officer and the urban design officer that the scheme was acceptable we now had to convince the members of the Borough of Poole planning committee as well! Following a site visit with the members in the morning Neil presented a deputation with our client to the Planning Board justifying why the application should be approved and why it would not be harmful to the character of the area or result in a loss of privacy as argued by the Ward Councillor and neighbours. It was put to the vote and the development was approved by the Members.
