Fareham Borough Council: Neil McKeon is delighted to have secured full planning permission for the erection of a new 12 house development in Park Gate near Southampton. The proposal sees the demolition of the frontage dwelling to allow access to under-utilised land rear of Botley Road.
Following a previously withdrawn application for 10 houses in 2018, Pure Town Planning were instructed to take the reins on the revised 12 house proposal. The proposal (designed by ARC Architecture) was first submitted in June 2019, but was delayed due to on-going negotiation between Fareham Borough Council and Natural England in reaching an agreement on Appropriate Assessment to address nitrogen and phosphorous impacts of new housing upon The Solent. The site also had a considerable ecological challenge in dealing with long-established slow worms on site, which required a suitable relocation strategy to ensure against any ecological harm.
Following extensive negotiations between Pure Town Planning, respective Council Officers and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, an agreed proposal on all fronts paved the way to Planning Committee. Neil successfully presented the scheme to Committee Members and demonstrated how the proposal was policy compliant and sensitively designed in respect to housing density, amenity, ecology and highway impacts. Members voted to approve the proposal to redevelop the site – much to the delight of the applicant after a lengthy application process.
