Before – the Centre for Applied Arts building at present

Borough of Poole: The Bournemouth and Poole College can now proceed with plans to create an exciting new specialist facility for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects at its North Road campus after Pure Town Planning secured planning permission.

As part of the conversion to the new facility, which has been designed by Studio Four Architects based in Romsey,  the current Centre for Applied Arts building will receive a complete face-lift. The centre sits adjacent to the new North Light Centre for Art and Design which was officially opened in February and represents the latest in a series of investments to improve teaching facilities at the campus. It directly supports  the Government’s programme to promote the education of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

We were delighted that the College asked us to assist in obtaining planning consent for this project – they have been a pleasure to work for! The design of the face-lifted building looks great and we really look forward to seeing the finished article later in the year.

After – CGI of the finished STEM centre

Ken Roberts, Executive Director of Resources at The Bournemouth and Poole College commented “We are delighted that we can now press ahead with the conversion works to create the new STEM centre. We were impressed that Pure Town Planning managed to progress this application through the system so quickly.”

We pride ourselves on not letting applications sit around unnecessarily in filing cabinets – this one was no exception with the 8-week application approved in just 5 weeks and one day. Now it’s on to the next exciting project for the College…but we’ll save that news for another day!
