Planning appeal Highcliffe Dorset

Christchurch Borough Council: Just a few hundred metres from our last appeal win in Christchurch earlier this year, comes another! Pure Town Planning has won a planning appeal against Christchurch Borough Council’s decision to refuse planning consent to upgrade this bungalow in Highcliffe, Dorset.

The application for various modifications including a roof extension to form a first floor and a rear extension was designed by Robbins Design of Christchurch. It was turned down by the Planning Committee on grounds that it would harm the character of the area following objections from the neighbours in the cul-de-sac. However in granting planning permission the Inspector stated:

I have found the proposed extensions to be well-considered and ones that would appear sympathetically related to the existing dwelling. When taken as a whole I find that the development, including the additional area of  hardstanding, would not significantly alter the overall form or setting of the dwelling, which would remain successfully assimilated into the street scene and respectful of the area’s character.

If you have had a householder application turned down recently don’t forget you only have 12 weeks to appeal. It is probably less costly than you think – call Pure Town Planning for advice.
